stoms and thunder

 LI: Summarising the text

For reading this week we read about Thunderstorms and what causes stormy weather. As a group we discuused the text, asked questions and shared facts we thought were ineresting.

Did you know that lightning happens before thunder because sound travels more slowly than light?

When thunderclouds are formed, liquid inside them turns to ice. Tiny bits of ice collide and this causes an electrical charge known as lightning.

Did you know some cretures and animals can sense when a storm are coming? Stormy weather happens when pressure in the atmosphere is low, warm air rises and meets cool dry air which condenses to form clouds.

Thunder is caused when hot air expands, making a loud noise.
